Align to Path dialog box

This dialog box lets you align non-text objects, or text converted to curves, along the path of other objects. For example, you can draw a curve and align other objects along it.

You also can change how shapes align to a path with the alignment orientation options.

For text, use the Path Fit button on the text ribbon

or Text to Path comment in the Align menu.


Select Path Previous	Selects the previous object to use as a path for the other objects. The initial path selection is the object that provides the longest path. The Previous button cycles through objects in the opposite order from the order in which they were drawn.
Select Path Next	Selects the next object to use as a path for the other objects. The Next button cycles through objects in the order in which they were drawn.
Justification Left	Positions objects so the left edge of each object aligns to the alignment point (the point on the object around which other objects align).
Justification Center	Centers objects horizontally around the alignment point (the point on the object around which other objects align).
Justification Right	Positions objects so the right edge of each object aligns to the alignment point (the point on the object around which other objects align).
Distribute Horizontally	Distributes objects evenly on the path (the object around which other objects align).
Direction Backward	Aligns objects in the opposite direction in which the path was drawn (the alignment direction is endpoint to origin).
Direction Forward	Aligns objects in the direction in which the path was drawn (the alignment direction is origin to endpoint).
Pitch No Rotation	Places objects along the path without skewing or rotating the shapes.
Pitch Rotate	Aligns the objects along a path by rotating, but not changing the shapes.
Offset %	Controls where the objects vertically rest on a path. An offset of 100 aligns the bottom of the objects to the path, an offset of 0 aligns the middle of the objects to the path, and an offset of -100 aligns the top of the objects to the path. An offset greater than 100 (to the limit of 200) aligns the bottom of the objects above the path. An offset less than -100 (to the limit of -200) aligns the top of the objects below the path.
Alignment Point Top	Sets the alignment point to the top edge of the path you are using to align objects. To set the alignment point to a custom location, click the Choose Position button.
Alignment Point Left	To set the alignment point to a custom location, click the Choose Position button.
Alignment Point Right	Sets the alignment point to the right edge of the path you are using to align objects. To set the alignment point to a custom location, click the Choose Position button.
Alignment Point Bottom	Sets the alignment point to the bottom edge of the path you are using to align objects. To set the alignment point to a custom location, click the Choose Position button.
Choose Position	Lets you drag a red alignment point along the path object to specify the alignment location. To complete the selection of the alignment point, click this button a second time.
